Every 5^th grade student in the County will compete in an Essay Writing Contest.  Many winners from all the schools are selected throughout the schools.  In January, all the 5^th grade students (approx. 1100) will be bused into the gym of either Claflin University or South Carolina State University where they will enjoy an outstanding speaker and also hear several of the winners read their essays.
