Orangeburg County Community of Character exists to INSPIRE (citizens to take responsibility for their decisions and actions), MOTIVATE (citizens to make a difference in the world around them), and to RECOGNIZE (citizens for exhibiting excellence in character).
1999 – A concept is shared ... and a grass roots effort begins.
2000 – County wide support ensues with all 17 municipalities and the County itself signing resolutions in support of the character initiative.
February 2004 – Orangeburg County Community of Character By-Laws are adopted and we obtain 501(c)(3) status.
